CNA Hardy was very proud to be one of the sponsors of the 2017 Dive In Festival that promotes and celebrates diversity and inclusion in the insurance industry. The Festival ran between 26th – 28th September in cities around the world, with 95 events attended by 7,856 members of the industry.
Our Chief Underwriting Officer, Patrick Gage took part in the panel discussion on ‘Are We Making Progress?’ with the CEO of Beazley Andrew Horton and Nicolas Aubert the CEO of Willis Tower Watson, that was moderated by BBC newsreader Jane Hill. They discussed the range of initiatives put in place by firms who are committed to moving the dial on inclusion and diversity, and the progress they have seen over the last two years since the first Dive In Festival.
CNA Chief Diversity Office Joyce Trimuel also joined us from the US for the duration of the festival, and joined the panel for ‘Infinite Progress in Infinite Combinations’ with other leading figures from the technology, banking and insurance sectors who shared their experiences of working with diverse workforces around the world.
Other events CNA Hardy was a part of include:
- Davide Anselmo, Regional Manager for Italy, was part of the first ever Dive In event in Italy, along with Vittorio Scala (Lloyd’s), Simona Fumagalli (XL Catlin) and Andrea Bono (Marsh).
- Our Singapore office was very involved with the event held at Lloyd’s Singapore office.
- Our Regional Manager Craig Jones-Newey also joined the panel for ‘The Business Case for Diversity’, which included Diane Davidson (Chubb) and Nikki Southwick-Gough (JLT).
- In Canada we arranged an internal event so staff could discuss the important question of why is diversity and inclusion important, and CNA participated in events across the US.
Our objective in sponsoring the Dive In Festival was to move from talking about diversity and inclusion to action, and to demonstrate that we consider culture to be key. This is only the start of our diversity and inclusion journey and we are committed to taking steps to make both our organisation and our industry more diverse and inclusive.
