Fire safety is of paramount importance for all businesses, which is why Stuart Kenyon and his team Risk Control team along with several Underwriters and a Risk Manager from one of our key brokers visited A&F Sprinklers in Rochdale, an LPCB 1048 listed sprinkler design and installation company.
Stuart Kenyon said: ‘I was grateful to A&F for extending the opportunity for our team to visit their facility. The day crystallised just how important sprinkler protection is, in both controlling the rate that a fire can spread and also how it can improve a business' resilience. Completing the routine tests of the sprinkler fire pumps and installation valves was a valuable, and hands-on experience. The visit has certainly armed us with best practice for the design, installation, maintenance and operation of current sprinkler installations to take into our Risk Control and Underwriting process.”
The full training day focused on several in-depth technical sessions including:
- Sprinkler awareness training including main components – tank, pump types and valves
- Drop in pressure testing on sprinkler fire pumps
- Sprinkler fire pumps duty flow testing
- Pump ‘Fail to start’ testing
- Water bulk storage tank checks
- Weekly sprinkler checks / TB203, including fuel checks, valve tampering, spares handling and signalling
