Alex Das, Class Manager, UK Life Science, London
Alex brings over 30 years of casualty underwriting experience, including 25 years specialising in Life Science Liability within the Lloyd’s and London Market. He has deep expertise structuring UK and international liability solutions for a wide client base, from R&D start-ups to global pharmaceutical manufacturers and with a strong focus on complex life science exposures.
Gareth Rees, Underwriting Manager, UK Regions, Manchester
Gareth joined CNA Hardy in August 2025 as Underwriting Manager for UK Regions, bringing specialist Life Science underwriting expertise. Gareth’s experience crossed pharmaceutical, biotech, medtech and clinical trial risks. His background includes underwriting complex professional and management liability lines and leading portfolio management, workflow optimisation and underwriting governance.
Jack Bligh, Senior Underwriter, London
Jack has over nine years’ experience at CNA Hardy underwriting Life Science risks, with strong technical capability across sector-specific liability exposures and portfolio management. He supports risk assessment, structure and terms for a broad range of life science accounts, applying disciplined underwriting judgement aligned to scientific and regulatory environments.
Ruby Marney, Senior Underwriter, London
Ruby joined CNA Hardy in August 2025 with nine years’ life science market experience spanning both underwriting and broking. She has specialist expertise in pharmaceutical, biotechnology and clinical trial exposures, enabling technically robust risk assessment and the design of tailored solutions for innovation-led life science organisations.
Sakeena Haider, Underwriter, London
Sakeena joined CNA Hardy in February 2024 with a first-class BSc in Biomedical Sciences from King’s College London, bringing a strong scientific grounding to life science underwriting. She focuses on evaluating sector-specific liability exposures across pharmaceuticals, medical devices and clinical trials, translating research-driven and emerging risks into clear underwriting decisions aligned to regulatory and operational realities.
Angharad (Annie) Davies, Assistant Underwriter, Birmingham
Annie joined CNA Hardy in February 2025 and brings technical expertise shaped by biomedical engineering and medical device development. With hands-on experience across NHS innovation projects and industry-led medtech research, she contributes applied insight into product design, safety and regulatory considerations, supporting underwriting of emerging medical technology and broader life science exposures within the UK Regions.
Harrison Lynch, Assistant Underwriter, London
Harrison joined CNA Hardy in 2024 after completing a Masters in Chemistry, including a year-long industrial placement at GSK focused on optimising drug discovery screening. He brings strong scientific and research capability, applying that technical understanding to assess research-driven life science exposures and support informed underwriting decisions across complex risks.
Peter Garnett, Senior Underwriter, Manchester Renewals Underwriting Centre
Peter began his insurance career in 1989 and has spent over 17 years specialising in the Life Science sector. His technical expertise spans underwriting and broking of complex life science risks, including multinational programmes and clinical trial-related exposures, with earlier experience in technology risks informing robust risk assessment. Since joining CNA Hardy in 2021, he has supported the UK and Ireland portfolio with disciplined underwriting judgement and a focus on technically sound structures and terms.
Vishal Patel, Senior Underwriter, Manchester Renewals Underwriting Centre
Vishal is a specialist life sciences underwriter with more than 20 years’ combined underwriting and broking experience. He focuses on complex life science and medical technology risks, supporting technical risk assessment, coverage structuring and sustainable terms for innovation-led clients, including where multinational coordination and specialist partner engagement are required.
Aleksandra Wilk, Underwriter, Manchester Renewals Underwriting Centre
Aleksandra joined CNA Hardy in 2022 and specialises in Life Science underwriting, with particular focus on multinational exposures and clinical trials. She supports technically detailed risk assessment and underwriting decision-making for complex, research-driven life science organisations, ensuring structures and terms reflect operational and regulatory realities.
Jeremiah Unum, Underwriter, Life Science, Manchester Renewals Underwriting Centre
Jeremiah joined CNA Hardy in August 2024 and brings seven years of underwriting experience supported by strong scientific credentials, including an MSc in Biotechnology and hands-on exposure to drug discovery and clinical trials. He applies this technical insight to evaluate complex, research-led life science risks and support underwriting decisions across innovation-driven portfolios.
Sandra Kremer, Assistant Underwriter, Life Science, Manchester Renewals Underwriting Centre
Sandra joined CNA Hardy in 2024 with seven years’ insurance experience and supports Micro, SME and Commercial Life Science risks. She has particular operational and technical focus on human clinical trials business and the underwriting processes that underpin multinational placements, ensuring accurate data capture and efficient handling of complex life science submissions.
Alain Reinhardt, PhD, Risk Control Consulting Director, Life Science and Technology
Alain is a senior Risk Control Consulting Director with deep technical expertise in Enterprise Risk Management, risk framework design and risk-informed operational decision-making for complex organisations, including pharmaceuticals and broader science-led industries. He supports the development of robust risk maturity through data-driven methods and structured process improvement, underpinned by a PhD in Chemistry and Green Belt certification in Business Process Excellence.
